Subsidies for new windows –
save twice

New windows not only improve the energy efficiency of your home, but are also financially supported by the government and many local authorities. There are various options available: grants, low-interest loans and even tax relief. We provide you with an overview of the most important programmes in 2025.

2. KfW promotional loan for energy-efficient building renovation (loan 261)

What is subsidised?

Window replacement as part of a complete energy-efficient renovation to create a so-called efficiency house.

How much funding is available?

  • Loan of up to €150,000 per residential unit
  • Repayment subsidies of 5–45%, depending on the efficiency house standard achieved

Prerequisite:

  • Renovation must be carried out in accordance with the efficiency house standard (e.g. EH 85 or better).
  • An energy consultant is required.
  • Submit your application to your bank before starting the project.

4. Regional support programmes

Many cities and municipalities offer additional subsidies – often in combination with federal programmes.

Here are a few examples (as of 2025):
